Polished lodging offering sleek rooms & suites, plus casual dining, an upscale lounge & event space.

Brought the family here while attending an on-site business conference. The staff is friendly and attentive, which was amazing given the number of conference attendees and guests. They made our stay most enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable if not a bit small for a family of four. The beds in our room were on the wee-side of being doubles. All-in-all, this is a great place to stay for business/conference-oriented visits, however, not so much for family getaways with small children.FYI: There is a well-appointed fitness center located on the third floor, however, the facility does lack a pool. I wish this was more clearly stated on the hotel's website.

I have to say I was truly disappointed by my stay. I will start with the positive if you’re there for a conference it’s very nice that it’s connected to the convention center. I would also say the lounge very nice and had lots of food. The security guards are the nicest people at the hotel, and the only people with a smiles and that were ready to help you. The rooms are pretty bad. I could hear everything happening in my neighbors room from them talking on the phone with their relatives to their alarm clock going off be careful to not get a room that’s in interfacing because then you get to hear everything in the loud lobby, while people are having parties, I found many of the staff except the security staff quite rude. I want to pay my bill so I won’t have to luggage all my stuff to the front desk and they said that’s not possible. I have done it all around the world. I felt like everyone had a chip on the shoulder and I know they’re supporting with a large volume but that is what the hotels to designed for. I would really consider staying here again in the past. I’ve stayed at the courtyard and I think it was a much better quality hotel and quality staff. I know there’s somethings you can’t change with architecture but staff don’t have to be so rude.

Decent hotel with a really nice lobby and ground level vibe. Great fitness center! Staff and service were great and kudos to Martha especially for her kindness and friendliness 😎. Not having microwaves and being able to hear everything in hallway and neighboring rooms were the biggest letdowns and not having closer bus stops. Location is pretty good too for short walk or Ubers to museums, White House and monuments.

Worst customer service experience. So many groups in line to check in, only 2 staff. Fine, it happens. Then at 10:50 pm we called for sparking water, they didn't pick until 11 pm then said it is too late to order. We are in our pajamas, not calling for food. Just WATER! $400 a night and I can't get water? What kind of hotel of this level, located in the capitol of the USA, stops rooms service at 11 pm? All hotels of this levels around the world serve very basic things after 11 pm. All we wanted is water. The manager Stephanie called and said we should have ordered by 10:50 pm. Uh...room service ends at 11 pm according to them but now she is saying 1050 for water? This just went in circles. Basic customer service is to tell us the rules and accommodate this 1 time. None whatsoever.I was better off at Hilton...

Although pricey it is so conveniently located that it's worth it. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Shower was strong and hearty. Room service food options are limited. But the food we ordered was surprisingly tasty. Valet service is great. Be forewarned. It now costs $65 per day.

My stay at Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, for a conference was outstanding! The central location was ideal, providing easy access to notable attractions. The rooms were modern, comfortable, and well-equipped. The conference facilities were top-notch, and the staff's professionalism ensured a seamless event. The variety of on-site dining options added to the overall convenience. A superb choice for both business and leisure travelers looking for a luxurious and well-located stay in the heart of Washington, DC.

My partner and I stayed here on a Saturday-Monday trip to visit friends in the area. Overall, a very nice stay and I’d stay here again in the future. We arrived early (12:30pm) and were able to get into our room right away, and due to my Platinum status were upgraded to an executive suite. The hotel did not seem too busy this weekend and I get the sense it is more of a weekday conference/business traveler hotel so your experience may vary on upgrade availability. We also got a $30 daily dining credit for on-site restaurants which was a nice perk as well. Overall, nice smooth check-in experience with friendly desk workers. The suite was spacious, clean, and quiet and had lots of windows for nice natural light. Bed was comfortable. Only two minor gripes:1) it was a bit tricky to get the shower to a good temperature as it would transition right from too hot to too cold (at least for my preference). But I only took a couple of very short showers so it didn’t matter much.2) Bed only had a nightstand on one side. Not a problem if you’re traveling alone but not so good for a couple. Even a very small shelf for my glasses, phone, and a glass of water would have been a plus.Gym was nice with lots of equipment; FYI there are two levels with a staircase connecting them inside the gym - my partner missed that initially and was confused to not find a weight rack on the floor you enter on.Only used the lounge briefly a couple of times but it had a nice selection of desserts in the evening and breakfast options in the morning as well as drinks. The attendant working at the door at breakfast was very nice.Starbucks in the lobby was very convenient to grab coffee in the morning without going out in the cold.

I came for an event and my company paid for my stay. Priced like a luxury hotel but not worth it in my opinion. Room was fine but not much soundproofing. You can hear slamming doors & conversations in the hallway loud & clear. Service at front desk & restaurants was fine, food was good, but pricey. Very friendly housekeepers. Location is good... was able to walk to White House & there are many restaurants nearby. No upgrade or 2pm checkout for gold status. Overall decent stay, but I wouldn't pay on my own to stay here.

Currently staying at this hotel for a business conference. The cleaning staff, front desk staff, event security, valet, and the whole team have been amazing.Initially, I had been assigned a room that had limited privacy as the window faced a common area on the second main floor. When following up with the front desk staff to see what the possibility was to switch rooms, Ms. Alexis Thompson went out of her way to quickly accommodate me. I had been greeted by her earlier while waiting in line - (she had taken the time to acknowledge all of us that were waiting to check in), so seeing her once again go out of her way to accommodate me was a gesture that definitely did not go unnoticed.Thank you, Alexis. You truly made a difference in my stay.Special appreciation to the cleaning staff as well. Regardless if I’m going to the gym or coming back to my room, every member of staff that I’ve bumped into along the way has had the most welcoming and positive demeanor. Thank you for your kindness.

Hotel staff are very nice and quick to get you all set up despite it being a busy time! We were a little shocked when we were told about the extra 75 bucks a night for the hotel room is case something busts so I wish that information had been given to us from the beginning. Other then that I am loving my visit!

I stayed here for a CBC political convention. The hotel is very close to the convention center and has many restaurants & bars located only steps away. Plenty of taxis, ubers, and a metro stop nearby. The facilities and rooms are dated but well-tended, spacious and clean. My bed was comfortable and provided a great night's rest. The lobby cafe & bar scene can be quite interesting.I would caution people to be prepared for the likelihood of a slow check in process. The hotel is a destination for the conference activity of multiple events. There are constant surges of incoming guests that overwhelm an often understaffed front desk.It took about 30 minutes of waiting in line before I made it to a desk agent. By then, I was upset and in discomfort from mobility issues. I was helped by Justine who got me into a good room. This was the only downside of a four day visit - everything ran smoothly after that. So folks, the moral of the story is that once you get past the check-in conundrum the rest of the stay should be a joy.

It is quite popular for those attending conferences that are held at the conference centre across the road. The room is big enough and the bed and pillow are comfortable. For toothbrush, tooth paste and shaver are upon request. Bedroom slippers are not provided. There are plenty of food joints and cafes within walking distance from the hotel.

Thomas L — Google review

This hotel is big. For a big conference at the convention center there maybe long line to get to the reservation desk. If you try the mobile key they say it may take an hour or more. The rooms are nice and what you would except from a Marriott Marquis. The concierge lounge is large and their is a good desert selection. Sorry, we missed the happy hour but I am sure it was good based on the desert selection. There is a tunnel in between the hotel and the convention center. Makes it super easy. One thing to note, the valet parking is $60/night.

I came here for a work event and waiting in the lobby for my colleague when I was confronted by an employee of the hotel who asked what I was doing there. I told him the event I was there for and he asked me to show proof that I was invited to the event. I was a bit flabbergasted that this employee did not believe me and forced me to take my phone out and show him that I had indeed been invited. He apparently still did not believe that I was there for the event and accompanied me to the check in for the event where I signed in and was admitted to the event. This employee was not friendly nor a good ambassador of the Marriott brand, which until today I had only good experiences with. I felt embarrassed and targeted for reasons that I don't understand.I would have preferred to wait for my colleague that I was meeting before going to check in, but I guess that was not possible for some reason.

I loved the location of this hotel! I was able to walk to so many cool place including the Convention Center.I was here for a conference and can I tell you they served THE BEST food I’ve EVER had at a hotel/conference. Like the food was GOOD. So good. Great options and I would go back if it were a restaurant 😆The beautiful people passing through at the bar/guests/other events were definitely a plus ✨

Ainye L — Google review

I was here for a day time meeting event and did not stay at the hotel. That being said the lobby is quite nice and open/airy with a central bar along with other services like a Starbucks. There are 4 sub levels of meeting rooms of many sizes and all very comfortable and nicely appointed. Staff was all very friendly in directing anyone coming in and despite the size of the hotel I quickly found my way to meeting space. Located right next to the convention center where I also had sessions it was very convenient.

Great hotel convenient to convention center and metro stop. The room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable and provided a great night's rest. My only con was that as an Elite member, there is a separate check-in desk, but the two ladies at this desk thought their conversation was more important than checking me in. Once the regular check-in desk was available, customer service was great, and check-in was a breeze. Besides the elite members' check-in, everyone else at the hotel was extremely helpful and courteousI will definitely stay here when I return to DC

Good experience. Nice hotel and area. Very helpful staff. Was concerned after other reviews but we had a good stay for our work team. Rooms clean and updated. AC not working so well no matter what temp set. Decent food at restaurant too. Roof top bar not bad. Would stay again!

This is a fine hotel, but the details keep it from being 5 stars. The rooms are fairly nice, and the hotel itself is nice, but they're cutting corners on small things that become annoying. For example, the Kleenex in the room are sandpaper. Does that normally matter? No, not really, but if you happen to be sick when you're there like I was, then days of sandpaper tissues gets annoying quickly. And there are other similar details for other parts of the room experience.Much of the food is the same way. It's fine, but it's not amazing. There are annoying gaps in service as some of the restaurants transition from breakfast to lunch. When I was there, the mobile app was also initially down and you couldn't order via phone either. Some of the items that are listed on the app (when it started working later in the week) were unavailable when you tried to add them to your cart. I'm not sure why they appear if they're out of stock. Again, not a big deal, but not 5 stars.Same thing for the conference rooms. They're fine, but the walls are too thin and it's easy to hear any event next to you with amplified speaking. Not unusual at most conferences, but the top hotels have better sound control.I would stay here again, but know the limits going in.

I was there for a work trip and the entire experience was wonderful! Check in with Mahmoud Abdalla was welcoming and efficient! The room was appointed beautifully and was immaculate. Annette did a wonderful job refreshing the room each day: it was evident that she takes great pride in her work. She also helped an issue I had with my dress/suit. The staff at Anthem were terrific and the breakfast was delicious! I felt very safe at the hotel and would definitely stay there again. Thank you!

This may be one of the worst hotels l've ever stayed at. Upon check-in, I went to my room. The bathroom was not clean. I called and was offered housekeeping or a room change. I opted for a room change. I had to go back to the front desk to pick up new keys. When I got to the second room, there was an issue with the bathroom lights flickering which immediately gave me a headache. I called again to request a room change and was told a bellhop would meet me at the room with new keys and would bring my luggage to the new room. After waiting about 10 minutes for the bellhop, another patron entered the room. In the span of 10 minutes, they had rebooked the room (in which I had already used the bathroom and sat in the bed) and the new resident entered. That was an awkward situation for the both of us. When the bellhop finally arrived, he was rude and did not take my luggage until I asked him to put it on the cart. He repeatedly asked me for the old set of keys and kindly offered to rifle through my purse for me because I told him my hands were full and could not look for them at that very moment. The third room is acceptable compared to the first two but still has cleanliness issues. There was gum on the carpet and a stained and dirty lampshade. Everything going on in the courtyard area can be heard in the internal facing rooms. When I attempted to raise my concerns via the app, I was rudely told “Ma’am is there something that we can assist with?”Update: just noticed that my mobile key is still to my previous room. Yes, I restarted the app and logged out and back in again. Security is clearly not a top priority here.

Absolutely horrible service, left us with one person without a bed and made no attempt to make the situation better. No parking available and we had to walk 2 miles with our luggage after having to park at union Station. Staff was rude and condescending. Asked for a blanket so my son could sleep in a chair... not a couch.. a chair... took them 2 hours to get it up to us, at 11pm. We told them we needed sleeping arrangements for 3, but they only provided 2. Very disappointed and will never stay here again. Atmosphere is kinda cool and different, but not worth it at all

I was here for work and had a great stay! This hotel is HUGE and has many floors which worked for our conference but could get confusing if you didn’t know where to go! The room was very comfortable however the bathroom was not. The shower door didn’t seal completely and spilled water on the bathroom floor. Location was close to lots of good restaurants.

I'm truly disheartened to share my recent experience at the Marriott Marquis in DC. As a Titanium Elite Marriott Bonvoy member, I've come to expect a certain level of quality and service, which, unfortunately, was not met during this stay.We booked two rooms using points, a decision that quickly seemed to influence the quality of our accommodations. From a chair with peeling faux leather to a non-functional phone, the initial impression was disappointing. It felt as though these rooms were less maintained, perhaps because of our method of booking. The real concern arose when we discovered a bed bug late at night. In a panic, we immediately sought help from the hotel staff, only to be met with a response that lacked the urgency and compassion we expected. We were left in the hallway, hastily bagging all our belongings to avoid further contamination, feeling more like an inconvenience than guests needing assistance. — which by the way we had to ask for they showed absolutely no care on what we were going to do with our belongings.Attempting to address the situation in the morning, the empathy and resolution we hoped for were still absent. We were initially offered 20k points (the original reservation was over 100k points) for our trouble with the smoke detector, but nothing for the distressing bed bug discovery — because that had to be done through a claims system. Which i understand there are different policies for bed bugs, but regardless of any of that we found a bug on their bed. We asked to speak to the manager and were told they were in a “meeting”. It was only after I directly contacted Titanium Elite services, who then communicated with the hotel, that a manager was brought into the conversation to offer a solution for cleaning our belongings, which still doesn’t alleviate a lot of concerns but at this point we have no other options.Amidst all this, our second room received an unexpected knock from housekeeping at 9:20 am, informing us it was time to check out, adding to the stress of an already taxing situation.Reflecting on this visit, it wasn't just about the rooms or the points but the overall lack of care and understanding in handling a genuinely distressing situation. The necessity to escalate to Titanium Elite services to receive due attention underscores the gap in the hospitality and care we expected. Hospitality, at its core, should be about making every guest feel heard and cared for, a mark that was sadly missed this time around.I’ve stayed in DC several times mostly in the JW Marriott by national mall, and even few in the Ritz West End and never have I experienced anything like this.

Stayed there for 3 nights and really liked the experience. It is a great hotel with nice amenities, and well designed. Good location, walkable distance to all the major attractions, close to DCA and Union station.Elite members have access to the club lounge, and their breakfast was awesome, as well as hors d'oeuvre with a nice selection of appetizers. And they even serve some delicious desserts later in the evening. They open access to the deck in good weather, which has good views. One can have wine or beer, it is not free, but on a honor-based system. Our regular room was quite spacious, with very comfy beds.Keep in mind that you might get a city facing room or an inner courtyard one.The hotel has a tremendous atrium-courtyard, with restaurants/bar and sculptures. And there's a great two story gym, really well equipped. In terms of parking you only have one option - valet for $65 per night.

We recently had a 3 day stay at this hotel for my daughter’s volleyball tournament. There was a problem with a request we’d made at the time of booking, and we were connected to Stephanie as the night manager on duty when we arrived. Despite knowing that this problem resulted in one of our party of three sleeping on the floor for 3 days, Stephanie was terribly rude. She showed no understanding, no compassion or kindness, and certainly NO hospitality - contrary to Marriott’s motto. The reason for my high rating is Manager Anthony Stewart’s attempt to correct the service we received. It was an incredibly busy weekend, and I know the staff was over-extended. Despite that fact, they are in the hospitality business. All else was great. Really good food, convenient walking to great sites and restaurants.

Easily my favorite hotel DC. The staff was amazing from start to end. The lounge attendant with the caramel complexion was everything one would hope for in class and demeanour. The lounge itself had great amenities. For the heart of DC, the value is unmatched. Monday had the best fair and seemed to decline over the days but it hurts to bring it up. Even on less generous days, the quality of every single item was impeccable. Some people can’t tell baloney apart from mortadella and to them I say more for me.I was terrified that the lobby noise would affect my sleep but I didn’t hear a sound.Special shout out to General Manager Porsches who really took the time to ensure a memorable guest experience. I’ll be back as often as I can.

Ayo O — Google review

Cons: Destination fee that is mandatory leaves no choice but to have breakfast at the local restaurant. Asked about parking cost and it was $65. Saw the bill with $75. Apparently they determined the vehicle to be oversized and didn’t explain me this upfront. Could not find any policy explaining the conditions for the vehicle to be oversized on the website. And these charges aren’t communicated to the guest. Feel this is not a fair practice.Pros: location is close to main sightseeing areas, nice rooms, beautiful interior.

Great location for food, fun and work. Just a short walk to the Capital One Arena and tons of restaurants and bars in the area. This hotel is connected to the Convention Center. Great steakhouse restaurant and Starbucks inside the hotel. My only complaint is that there is no shuttle to the airport.
