Just months after news broke thatSophie Turner had asked a judge to “reactivate” her divorce case from Joe Jonas, the British actor is opening up about the split, and their relationship overall, for the first time.
In a new interview withBritishVogue, Sophie Turner opened up about her feelings while going through the divorce process at length, calling the media frenzy that ensued when news first broke “the worst few days of [her] life.”
In case you need a refresher, TMZ was the first to speculate on news of Turner and Jonas’s divorce before the pair officially confirmed it with a joint statement. TMZ, citing an unnamed source, claimed the reason behind the divorce was the then couple's “very different lifestyles," adding that "she likes to party, he likes to stay at home.”
At the same time as TMZ’s article was published, images of Turner celebrating at the wrap party for her new mini-seriesJoanbegan circulating online, creating a fake “bad mom” narrative around Turner, who is now setting the record straight.
Turner toldVogueshe felt helpless while the articles were coming out, as she was on set ofJoanand was contracted to stay there for another couple of weeks. “I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States, and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finishJoan. And all these articles started coming out,” the actor said. “It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother – mom guilt is so real! I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mom, and you’ve never been a partier.’”
Turner does not deny attending the wrap party but slammed articles that claimed she was enjoying it “without a care in the world.” “It’s unfathomable the amount of people that will just make sh*t up and put it up based on a picture,” she explained. “A picture might tell a thousand words, but it’s not my story. It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn’t written, hadn’t produced, or starred in. It was shocking. I’m still in shock.”
