Sustainable business is improving all the time 🚀And to stay up-to-date, Pure Carbon Blue was at two events this week. Marc Goedkoop, PhD went to #Achema24 trade show in #Frankfurt and Anna Goedkoop went to GreenTech in #Amsterdam. At the Greentech, we got the chance to connect with the world's leading companies and innovators of the horticulture industry. Our takeaways:🌿 Rob Baan of #KoppertCress: "I want to be able to say to my customers that we produce as eco-friendly as possible. And in 2026, we want to be CO2 neutral to the end-consumer, wherever he is. Otherwise, we’re putting it to the future generations."🌿 Stijn Jochems of #Delphy: "In horticulture carbon dioxide is vital for photosensitizing. In the near future growers will need to get CO2 increasingly from external sources."🌿 Brigitte Jacobs-van den Eijnden of #TNO: "The challenge for the future is finding the external sources of CO2. But the costs of CO2 from new sources will be higher".At the Achema in Frankfurt, which is the World Forum for the process industries, we explored the latest innovations and met existing development partners. Here's why we don't want to miss these events. We believe the world needs sustainable solutions now. We want to be informed about the most recent developments, collaborate with the experts in the field and maintain a good feeling of the developments in the market of carbon capture and utilization. Especially this last one is important, because we believe that profit and sustainability can go hand in hand.Want to know what sustainability can do for your business? Let's connect.#Sustainability #SustainableBusiness #Innovation #NetZeroEmissions

World Ocean Day: it's not all doom and gloom below the surface. As a young company that captures carbon from water, we consider the ocean one of our most valuable assets. Therefore, there can't be enough awareness of ocean acidification, overfishing, coral destruction and plastic pollution. Nevertheless, we'd like to celebrate World Ocean Day by highlighting some of the positive developments of the ocean.* Last year, a global treaty was signed to protect biodiversity on the high seas and the regulation of international trade of 97 sharks and rays.* This year, The Ocean Cleanup reached a milestone of removing 220 ton of plastic from the ocean.* A new study reported in the journal Current Biology on March 8, shows that restored coral reefs can grow at the same speed as healthy reefs a little as four years after coral transplantation.* Researchers have found that the ocean soaks up 30 to 40 percent of all the gas produced by human activities. This makes Direct Water Capture one of the most effective methods to extract biocarbon. At Pure Carbon Blue, we like to think of solutions instead of problems. If you're somebody who likes to take action now and if you want to know what our Direct Water Capture technology can do for your company, feel free to get in touch with us now.#WorldOceanDay #ESG #Environment #Sustainability #CarbonCapture #Leadership #ClimateAction

Solutions for an inevitable climate and energy transition at the Energy Reinvented Community."Matching energy supply and demand for the industry", was the central theme of this week's event by the Energy Reinvented Community in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. Pure Carbon Blue was there and learned the following:* The Netherlands has a highly integrated industry. There is an increasing awareness that we should not just develop new technologies, but also the integration of processes.* Investing in infrastructure should go ahead of the demand for green energy, but without taking too big risks. A good example in the Netherlands is offshore wind farms.* In developing technology and infrastructure, we should not use history as our reference, which is commonly done. The reference should be “What is needed now?”* The one action that the participants took away from this event was “Collaborate”. The climate and energy transition cannot be realized with just a focus on the individual company. It requires value-chain action and even beyond-value-chain mitigation. And there was more. Marc Goedkoop, PhD of Pure Carbon Blue was one of the panel members who put central Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage & Financing the Energy Transition. We'd like to thank Rene Peters, Jan Prins, Marlou Bergboer, Barthold Schroot, Koenraad van Hasselt, Gisele Widdershoven, MBA, Femke Perlot-Hoogeveen, Connie Prins- van Baren for their excellent organization, Sofie van den Enk for moderating the event and Michiel Engelaar for moderating the breakout session.#Leadership #ClimateAction #NetZero #Innovation #Sustainabiliy #Nieuwegein

Today is a day to remember. It's UN World Environment Day. On this day businesses and their leaders are reminded of our profound responsibility to foster sustainable practices and champion environmental stewardship. This year's campaign focuses on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience. The motto: "Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration." At Pure Carbon Blue, we are dedicated to capturing carbon from water. This way you can compensate for unabated fossil emissions and deploy carbon neutral feedstock. One step towards a regenerative economy. But a regenerative economy is a continuous journey. We must persistently strive for improvement. We encourage each one of you to reflect on how you can contribute to this global movement. Whether it's through small steps or larger systemic changes, all actions count toward reaching this one goal:Making a lasting positive impact on our planet.#WorldEnvironmentDay #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Collaboration

4 Learnings and great examples from the most inspiring summit for meaningful business. That meaningful business is on the rise, is not a new thing. That's why it's not surprising that last week at the B For Good Leaders Summit in Amsterdam 1.200 CEOs and other inspiring leaders shared their knowledge and experience. Pure Carbon Blue was there as well, and we've noticed a few great developments:* According to Satish Kumar nature isn’t simply a resource for the economy, it’s a source of life itself. Climate sustainability has to be the main responsibility at every level: individual, business and government. Change comes from the bottom up. We should shift towards elegant simplicity. From quantity-oriented consumption to quality-oriented consumption. What we make should be beautiful, useful, and durable.* Change requires moral ambition. According to Rutger Bregman this is not about pointing fingers, but a mindset that focuses on taking action. The ingredients are: a new definition of ‘success’, focus on maximum impact, and relentless prioritizing. With these at hand, we can redefine what is good and bad.* Leaders should jointly tackle the impact challenges across industry value chains and make a 'triple' return: strategic, impact, and financial.* Climate action is no longer just about ‘shouting’ what is wrong. It’s about people who collaborate and put ideas into action. They invest within their value chain, and in the potential for mitigation beyond the value chain. By doing we can learn and educate how to reduce our fossil carbon emissions and how to find workable solutions for our unabated emissions. There were many great examples of leading companies who expressed their most recent commitments, among them:* Marit van Egmond of #AlbertHeijn told us about their newly introduced brand #AHTerra, which communicates the CO2 impact on the product label. The scope 3 emissions of Albert Heijn have a share of 95% in their total emissions. Like for most companies, these are the most difficult to reduce, and make ambitions highly dependent on suppliers. So now they just created their own brand.* Raymond Cloosterman of #Rituals pledged to dedicate 10% of the net profit to impact. This includes reducing the carbon footprint.* #TheSocialHub is leading by example and driving industry change while setting realistic, measurable sustainability goals. They make this possible by collaborating with like-minded partners. And Charlie MacGregor announced that from now on they will even allocate 1% of their revenues to create a better society. We thank all the leaders who joined the summit. Special thanks to Marcello Palazzi, Leen Zevenbergen and the entire B for Good Leaders team for your boundless energy and dedication. We're looking forward to another fruitful B for Good Leaders Summit in 2025 during the Amsterdam Impact Week.#BForGoodLeadersSummit #Leadership #SocialResponsibility #ESG #ClimateAction #NetZero #Amsterdam

Why an orchestra is the solution to climate change. At first sight, the energy transition seems to be too complicated to compare with an orchestra. But think about it. A good orchestra consists of talented individuals with a diverse set of instruments who know what they are doing. Alone they can use their virtuosity to get a few smiling faces. But with the right coordination, collaboration and a great conductor, all these talented individuals can accomplish miracles together. This is the same when dealing with net-zero.We need to go from "we do it ourselves" to "we're doing it together".We need to connect and think in an integrated way to reach net-zero emissions. At Pure Carbon Blue, we continuously work together with customers, business partners, knowledge institutes and investors. And we listen to different views from different generations. Of course, not everybody agrees with each other, but that's okay as long as it doesn't become a cacophony. We listen to different views and if we put these together, we will be a lot stronger.Does ‘collaboration’ in reaching net-zero sound like music to your ears? Feel free to connect with us to see what our Direct Water Capture technology can do for you.#Collaboration #Leadership #Business Strategy #EnergyTransition #NetZero #ClimateAction

The energy transition leads to a mindset transition. Many businesses want to make the movement towards net-zero emissions. At least, this is what we at Pure Carbon Blue notice when we talk with other companies and experts. Discussions are not about the necessity of net-zero anymore, but about how to get there. But how can you make that change in your company? We believe the right mindset is important. As a sustainable company, we work a lot together with students from the Delft University of Technology. They've told us that any project that doesn't incorporate sustainability will not be approved by their professors. You might think this is a restriction, but the students always find a solution.A lot of businesses could think likewise.Instead of thinking: "How are we going to afford this", you could also think: "Let's just do it." This means not only talking about it, but start "doing net-zero" now, and learn how you can solve the perceived loose ends. You'll see that automatically you'll attract likewise-thinking businesses who share the same goal and people within your company that support your ambitious plans. The question is not: can you afford to make the change? The question is: can you afford not to?#EnergyTransition #Climateaction #Management #NetZero #ClimateAction

How the energy transition stands to benefit businessYou might have seen the popular slogan "people not profit" in the media. We understand there's a good intention behind it, but at Pure Carbon Blue we believe that people and profit can go hand in hand. Especially when it involves sustainability. Why? Because being sustainable is good for your business.According to research by Bloomberg*, a record of $495 billion was invested in renewable energy in 2022. The transition to clean energy favors job opportunities and stimulates economic growth. On the other hand, businesses who fail to come along will be "punished" by the market.A lot of companies know this. That's why we collaborate a lot with different experts and companies to build our Direct Water Capture system. In our conversations and seminars, we found out that many companies want to make the movement towards net-zero emissions. Usually, they are not questioning net-zero, they just feel overwhelmed and are thinking about how to deal with the costs.Luckily there is more than one solution and many different solutions are needed to obtain net-zero. If you'd like to know more about the four different pathways to net-zero emissions, feel free to download our white paper with the link in the comments. What does sustainability mean for your business? Do you encounter difficulties or do you focus on the opportunities?* Source: "Energy Transition Investment Trends 2024, by BloombergNEF.#NetZero #SustainableBusiness #Sustainability #ClimateAction #DirectWaterCapture
